
Register to Vote in the Selma City Council Presidential Election
The upcoming Selma City Council Presidential election is scheduled for August 26, 2025. Make sure your voter registration is up to date so you can participate in shaping the future of our city.
Voter Registration Deadline
To vote in the election, you must register by August 11, 2025.
Who Can Register?
To be eligible to vote in Alabama, you must:
✔ Be a U.S. citizen
✔ Reside in Selma, Alabama
✔ Be 18 years or older by Election Day
✔ Not be convicted of a disqualifying felony (unless rights have been restored)
✔ Not be declared mentally incompetent by a court
How to Register
There are three convenient ways to register:
1. Online
If you have a valid Alabama driver’s license or state-issued ID, you can register online at the Alabama Secretary of State’s website.
2. By Mail
Download and complete the State of Alabama Mail-In Voter Registration Form. Mail it to your Dallas County Board of Registrars before the deadline.
3. In-Person
Visit your Dallas County Board of Registrars' office to register before August 11, 2025.

Voter ID Requirements
Alabama requires voters to show a valid photo ID at the polls. Acceptable forms include:
- Alabama driver’s license or state-issued ID
- U.S. passport
- Military ID
- Free voter ID card (available from the Alabama Secretary of State)
