Public Safety
Kennard Randolph believes that every resident of Selma deserves to feel safe in their home, on their street, and throughout the community. As City Council President, he will prioritize a community-based approach to public safety that not only addresses crime, but also prevents it—by investing in the people, neighborhoods, and relationships that make Selma stronger.
Rather than relying solely on traditional law enforcement methods, Mr. Randolph supports strategies that build collaboration and trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. This includes expanding neighborhood watch programs, increasing the presence of community policing units, and encouraging ongoing dialogue between residents and officers to promote transparency and accountability.
Public safety is not just about enforcement—it’s about creating opportunities, addressing root causes, and ensuring our neighborhoods are equipped with the resources they need to thrive. Mr. Randolph will champion initiatives that reduce crime by supporting youth programs, mental health services, reentry programs, and job training—all proven methods to prevent criminal activity and build safer, more resilient communities.
Under his leadership, Selma will take a proactive, people-first approach to safety—one that unites residents, empowers families, and lays the foundation for a more secure future.
